Baby Boomers Challenge the Status Quo

As a Baby Boomer, I have become aware of the subtle and not so subtle messages of society that we should retire at age 65…maybe a little before or after. I found myself being pulled into this mindset.   The things I would be thinking would be:

  • I am looking/feeling older
  • My friends are all making retirement plans and some have retired
  • My skills and experience are becoming irrelevant
  • I’m not able to keep up with technology
  • Maybe I need to relax more
  • I should enjoy the time I have left

There are probably more, but these are the ones of which I have become aware.

Through the process of taking an Intentional Creativity course and attending an investment seminar, I have changed my direction, significantly.

I have decided to build my portfolio of skills and continue working, thru my 70s. I now am reflecting back on my cohorts!

Do retirees have the opportunity to process their transitions/losses/grief as they leave their employment?   Do they have wounds inflicted by, sometimes cruel, workplace experiences, that needed to heal…be re-interpreted? Do they have a way to get the motivation they needed to pursue other interests, paid and non-paid?

What if we could help Baby Boomers overhaul this whole notion of retirement and allow them to contribute, significantly, to the economies of their communities, states, country and world! Wouldn’t they be happier?   Wouldn’t our economies be better off? Of course there needs to be balance, relaxation and creativity.   This stage of life is one where many options could be explored and created.

This is the rationale for BoomerANG “Lighting Your SoulFIRE” offered on Sat. Feb. 6th from 8:30a.m to 3:30pm…in real time!   Go to purchase on this site to register.  Come join us to become an Intentional Difference Maker!
